Welcome to an unforgettable trip in the archipelago!
Bengtskär is the tallest lighthouse in Scandinavia, and its massive stone walls have witnessed some of the most dramatic events in Finland’s history. On climbing the tower and reaching the top, you’re awarded with a stunning view of the sea. You can explore the lighthouse keeper’s life in bygone days, the battle of Bengtskär and for example archipelago nature at the exhibitions on the lower floors.
Guiding and café
The lighthouse is easy to get acquainted with on your own, but we recommend also taking part in the free introduction during your visit. Bengtskär's brief guiding of the lighthouse's history is held - weather permitting - outdoors. Due to the corona, there will be no guided tours in the summer of 2020. Instead the visitors will receive a brochure about the lighthouse.
Bengtskär lighthouse's cosy café is open during the visit serving coffee, other beverages and small sweet snacks.

Good to know
The café and souvenir shop in Bengtskär accepts Visa, Master and EuroCard, Visa Electron and cash.
The departure harbour is located in Rosala village, very near Rosala Viking Centre. You can arrive on Rosala island by free scheduled car ferry from Kasnäs. Please note that on Sundays the first ferry will depart from Kasnäs at 12.00 noon. The car ferry trip takes about 30 minutes, and the departure pier for Bengtskär's boats is about 5 km from the car ferry harbour. You can also arrive to Rosala with your own boat. We recommend arriving at the pier in Rosala village harbour 15 minutes before departure.
Trips to Bengtskär are always weather dependent. The weather at sea can cause changes to the timetable and itinerary. Heavy seas caused by strong wind prevents landing on the island about twice a month in the summertime. We try to inform our guests about cancellation in advance, but sometimes this is not possible as the weather may not always be consistent with forecasts. If we cancel, you can transfer your trip for another day of the same price or get a refund. If you paid for the trip with a gift card, you can transfer your trip for another day.
Boats can be fully booked, so we warmly recommend making a reservation. Places for 0-3 year olds must also be reserved even if they travel for free. Children may only travel accompanied by an adult.
Please, read also terms before making a reservation.
The corona pandemic may cause changes and measures also in the 2021 season, but we'll know more about them first in the spring. Here is the information for the period 2020:

- Travel only if you are healthy!
- If you need to cough or sneeze, do so on a disposable handkerchief or your sleeve
- Clean your hands often and avoid touching surfaces unnecessarily
- Keep your distance from others whenever possible
- Travel and spend time outdoors whenever possible

Clothing. We recommend clothing according to weather, and comfortable walking shoes suitable for uneven terrain. It can be windy and humid at sea, but just as well warm and very sunny. The weather can change quickly.
Equipment. Consider bringing sunscreen, and perhaps even a flashlight for exploring the bunker in Bengtskär. Don't forget your camera, if you wish to take photos!
Boats. The boats are water-bus type and covered, and don't have a café aboard. Some boats have a toilet, others don't.
